Total War: Shogun 2

Total War: Shogun 2
By Andysonofbob
>

Required settings: DX9 mode, Shadows off.

This is definately a game of two halfs: the battle phases as well as the campaign map.

The battle phases

Both land and sea have had all the dodgy effects removed. So much so I would call it 3D Ready if it weren't for the 2D mouse. Personally 2D mouses concern me less in RTS where they would be a game breaker in an FPS or 3rd person game. I guess this is because you can move them and you can still accurately aim between the 'two' cursers...

You do loose flaming buildings and ships but the be building do look like they are smouldering; the ships just have a heat wave effect around them now though. Flaming arrows are fine.

The campaign map

For this I have removed: roads, rivers, province borders, province zones and unit range zones have been removed. This isn't as bad as it sounds. Roads and rivers are cosmetic (I didn't realise they had gone and the bridges remain as visual clues), the minimap still shows the province zones and borders and holding right mouse button previews the selected path of the unit including range and turns required!

The only issue remaining on the campaign map are the town names which are 2D. This would do my head in during battles but I don't mind them on the campaign map for some reason...

For those who want the campaign map left alone and are happy to toggle 2D for these sections

Inside both pixel and vertex shader folders is a folder called Basic. Remove and replace all the shaders with the ones in the folders. (I have simply removed the shaders relating to the campaign map.)

- i supose minor issues, if you found some please post a comment and picture.

Optional:
Press U to cycle from [2] different depth/convergence settings.

Instructions:
- Use the Masseffect 3 profile with Nvidia inspector (Download Tutorial) or rename .exe to "masseffect3.exe" (MUST)
 - Extract the content of the .zip where .exe is located.
- Press F6 to suggested convergence value, you can change that value deleting the preset 1 content in .ini file.

Finish the game with none issues, the game is great btw (if you like Transformers of course).

Note: I'm tested and playing the game with the 304.79 Beta driver. 306.02 Beta driver may not work properly because nvidia update/change the masseffect3 profile.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter [Update 06/25]

Update: 06/25
Reflections

Fixed:
Shadows, lighting, effects, non-sli issues, etc
Removed:
Fake shadows[Circle shadows. Casted shadows remain]
Issues remaining:
Shadows are very accurate but may appear off at high convergence setting.

Yikes, I only started cause I thought it would have less issues then Serious Sam 3.. It was a lot worse off, Nvidia gave it a fair while I'd like to give them my optometrist's bill.. Should be very enjoyable after patch but it still may have an issue here and there. Id rate it around a excellent, can either use no crosshair or nvidia laser sight. If this is a problem this patch is probably not for you.
Demo is available on Steam.

Full HD series is now complete. Should be very enjoyable after patch but it still may have an issue here and there. Id rate it around a excellent, can either use no crosshair or nvidia laser sight. If this is a problem this patch is probably not for you. I talked about it on SS3 but this game came out in 2009 and actually looks better then games coming out now [2013] which is a shocker for a indie game.

Update 06/13
Resolved Non-SLI issues.
SLI/NON SLI Compatible patch
Fixed:
All remaining issues.
Removed:
"Shadow blob"[Shadows are still in game. This is the circle shadow that appears under feet]

Kind of weird that the most graphical/advanced Serious Sam came out the best in 3D not that the other patches are bad but its practically flawless imo.
Surprisingly fun game. Not to mention if you got a computer like a tank, it certainly rewards you. Each Serious Sam was ahead of its time as far as graphics which is amazing from an indie developer. Games are just catching up on SS1 HD now. BFE is still close to the most graphical games coming out in 2013. Which is a shocker from an indie developer.

Settings:
-Game options: Crosshair:None || Dispersion Crosshair:None
-Save your depth/convergence settings with F7
Installation:
Install to TWO folders /Serious Sam 3/ + Serious Sam 3/Bin/
Prior to playing game open SS3BFE_MKb.exe if using Mouse/Keyboard OR SS3BFE_LTrig.exe if using Controller.

Rise of the Argonauts

By Eqzitara/Mana84

Fixed: Shadows/effects

Got game for $3 bucks and was gonna skip it but I've heard people speak well of it on more then one occasion[3D]. I fixed so many UE3 games on this particular version that it would only take 20 minutes. So I said why not. Patch was not thoroughly tested but I kind of doubt any issues will arise.

Fable: The Lost Chapters - 3D Vision Fix

3D Vision Fix by mike_ar69

Fixed
1. Water reflections
2. Water refractions
3. Water rings when you wade in water
4. Character and Object Halos
5. Coupled HUD and world objects
6. Spinning avatar in clothing menu
7. Put HUD at small depth
8. Disabled distant objects which rendered too close
9. Provided two convergence presets (high/low) as some menus require lower convergence

Screenshot

Video
I have made a video available (and extra screenshots) here: Fable TLC Video

Outstanding Issues
1. Halos are significantly better than they were, but ultimately the technique used to create the halo/highlighting seems a bit of a bodge and its showing up in 3D.  So from a distance, halos can look clipped.  There are no Pixel shaders to see if this could be fixed.
2. I removed distant trees because they rendered too close, and trying to push them back just made them clip so much they disappeared.  If anyone knows how to deal with this, please let me know.
3. It is necessary to *remove* the Nvidia profile for this game using Nvidia Inspector (see below).  Using Aion or Prototype did not allow water to be fixed properly.  The default profile does not allow any stereo fixes to be applied (I had this problem with Overlord 2 as well).
4. The way the game creates reflections on water is flawed, even in 2D.  Sometimes something is reflected that should not be - that is a game bug, not part of this fix.

Summary
A bit of a Golden Oldie nowadays, I was amazed how good this game looked out the box - lighting and shadows, smoke fire etc - all render great.  Of the issues I fixed, the Halos where the biggest visual issue, followed by the water issues, and I moved the HUD for the sake of it, it looks a bit better in a small depth.  The distant trees were also hurtful on the eyes, but there were not many of them and removing them does not affect the visuals hardly at all - the game has a really low LOD for world objects anyway.

Installation
1. Extract this zip file to the games exe directory.  In my case this is D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters.
2. Remove default profile with Nvidia Inspector.
2.1 Open Nvidia Inspector
2.2 Click the litle "tools" icon on the middle RHS
2.3 Type "Fable" in the "Profiles:" box at the top
2.4 Select "Fable The Lost Chapters"
2.5 A menu icon with a red X on it will appear next to a menu icon with a green plus
2.6 Select the one with the red X
2.7 Select the game exe name when it pops up
2.8 Press the "Apply Changes" button in the top RHS

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine [Update 06/19]

06/19
Hud fixes
Issues Remaining:
Shadows Disabled, minor lighting, etc

If interested in my thoughts/optimizations on game check my blog HERE

This has kind of been of been a work in progress for over a year for me. Ive always seen it as the biggest disaster out of the box... I finally got lighting to work so I decided to post it. There may be another update for it down the road, maybe another year lol. I'd rate it around a C-. Its not a perfect patch but its very enjoyable. If your looking for a perfect patch this is not it.

Guild Wars 2

Fix by Eincrou
Updated June 3, 2013

3D Video Showcase

Cutscene backgrounds are where they should be now!
You can see bad shadows on the characters due to Ultra shadows settings.

Created using game version: Gw2: 18,997

Description

It's the end of the year, so it's safe for me to give Guild Wars 2 my award for Best Stereoscopic 3D Game of 2012.  This award is coveted by nobody in the world, ever.  But if it was, ArenaNet would be proud today.

It has a dynamically rendering mouse, for goodness' sake.  This game was designed to be played in stereoscopic 3D.  It's a mind-blowing experience.

GW2 released with a number of anomalies, namely shadows and some UI elements, but guess what:  every single one of these issues has been addressed by the developer, ArenaNet.  Dynamic shadows and ground spell effects remain slightly too deep, but it's acceptable.

The only thing the Helix Mod is really needed for is personal preference issues.  I like UIs to render with depth.  That is what this fix accomplishes.

This fix solves:

  1. The entire HUD renders with depth, as do menu windows. Some elements render more shallow. See Problems not fixed item #2.
  2. The 2D backgrounds on the log-in screen and cutscenes are now.... really in the background. It renders deeper than the character models now.  How much depth it needs depends on your convergence, so feel free to adjust the depth in C64CB18C.txt, 9C5106ED.txt and 34C7FE12.txt. Change the first number after def c224 (default is 0.8).

Problems not fixed:

  1. There are still major problems with lighting and shadows on the Ultra shadows setting.  They're kind of rare outside of cutscenes, but lower your shadows to High or below if it's an issue for you.
  2. Some interface elements render differently.  Vendor menus, the skill menu and chatbox text are a few examples.  Use the 2D hotkey ( NumPad 0 ) if you find one of these situations getting in your way.
  3. The UI art is designed to be at the very margins of your screen, so horizontal clipping is inevitable.  This will vary depending on the amount of depth you have the game at, so feel free to adjust the default 0.3 setting for UI depth.
  4. The mouse cursor still comes up to screen depth when over an interface element.  This is probably impossible to fix.

Change Log:

  • v7: (6/3/2013) Going back to old version of dll, since the new one makes mouse turning not work. Changed preset hotkeys. Fixed some dumb errors in several shaders.
  • v6: (6/2/2013) Using new version of dll, eliminating the need for workarounds. Changed preset hotkeys.  Changed code to allow users to quickly change UI depth presets from within DX9Settings.ini.
  • v5: (12/29/2012) Fixed some additional cutscene elements.
  • v4: (12/28/2012) Optional version that use proxy library workaround for Helix Mod release dll version. Texts no longer "float."
  • v3: (12/27/2012) Added the damned buff/debuff duration outline.
  • v2: (12/26/2012) Cutscene/main menu background depth fixed.
  • v1: (12/25/2012) Initial fix for UI depth.

    How To Get It Working

    1. Extract the zip file to the same location as "Gw2.exe."
    2. Open DX9Settings.ini with Notepad.  Change line 2 to the exact path of d3d9fx.dll.
    Example: Proxylib = C:\My Games\Guild Wars 2\d3d9fx.dll
SweetFX is included with this fix, because the fix does not work with the release dll. I have disabled all visual modifications, but you are welcome to play around with it in SweetFX_settings.txt.

        Preset Hotkeys:

This fix uses hotkeys to control the depth of the user interface.  UI depth is OFF when the game starts.  Use preset hotkeys 2-4 to give your UI depth.  The default settings are:
        • Preset Key 1: NumPad 0 0 depth
        • Preset Key 2: NumPad 1 0.3 depth
        • Preset Key 3: NumPad 2 0.5 depth
        • Preset Key 4: NumPad 3 0.6 depth

        Customizing User Interface Depth:

You can set the UI depth to whatever you want by modifying the Const3  value under each preset.  This has to be a floating point value, converted to hexadecimal.  There are four presets, so you can have four different depths.

Online Floating Point to Hex Converter

You can also change the hotkeys.  Use the keycode number in the first column on this website:

        Keycode Reference

        Download

Obligatory Warning: I don't think anyone has ever been banned for playing an online game with a DirectX injector meant to enhance visuals, such as ENB or SweetFX.  Nobody has reported being banned for using the Helix Mod.  I play Guild Wars 2 using both the Helix Mod and SweetFX without problems.  Still, be aware that we can't guarantee 100% that you won't have problems.
