Left 4 Dead 2 - 3D Vision Fix

3D Vision Fix by mike_ar69

Fixed
1. Water haloing, reflections
2. Green slime
3. Name Tags placed at depth

**UPDATE 9/27/13  Name tags apparently stopped working.  Fixed.  Download v2.

Video

A video is available here: L4D2 Video.

Outstanding Issues
1. Skybox and distant objects render too close, and are using some technique that means they can't be fixed.  This is not too bad actually, and has not distracted me in any way at all.
2. As a result of the above there are some of these distant objects that display a double imaging against the sky.  There are not many of these though, and I went through most levels.
3. The identifiers for textures appear to change over time, presumably when a patch or update is released.  This is one reason I decided not to invest loads of effort in fixing skybox and distant objects.  I did use texture separation for the Name Tags, and it is possible that in the future this might stop working due to the texture name changing.  If it does, ping me and I'll find the name of the new one and update it.

Update 6/1/2013 - I created the fix for 1080p resolution with all settings on maximum.  I noticed that, for some reason I do not understand, changing resolution in game makes (some of) the fixes stop working.  If anyone encounters this, let me know.  If anyone knows why this might be happening, please let me know also.

Summary
This game looks fantastic in 3D, even without the fixes the sense of atmosphere and ambiance is great.  The water fix I think does polish this game off to be somewhere between "good" and "excellent" - everything else renders great.

Installation
Extract this zip file to the games exe directory.  In my case this is D:\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2.exe.

Acknowledgements and Thanks
DHR looked at L4D2 a while back and provided the first shaderoverride shaders for hud and skybox.  I used his Hud shader as a basis for my Name Tag fix.

Call of Juarez Gunslinger

The game is fun, not a piece of art, but fun enough to shoot some bad guys and finish the game. You have first person shooter, bosses, duels.... The narration/storyteller is great. The main issues with this game is Shadows, there are 2D....i try to do something with shadows in this game, but there're treated like 2D object, so i don't know if is possible to fix. Playing without shadows is not that bad, actually finish the game wihtout them......not that bad tbh. I upload the fix if someone is interested.

Fix/remove:
- Fix Crosshair
- Remove some minor issues

"P" key remove the "Artistic" black borders, it's cycle (ON/OFF)
"O" key for suggested convergence value (left default)
Press right mouse button for low aiming convergence.

To remove shadows use this values in the video.scr file located in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings

Shadows("High")
ShadowMapSize(1)
SpotShadowMapSize(1)

Mirror's Edge Patch Complete

MIRROR'S EDGE
COLLABORATION BY EQZITARA / MANA84

Updated:
05/25/13 Made changes based on Mana84's Mass Effect code.
Shadows should now render perfect, remaining issues should be fixed.

A year ago this was one of my first "real" patches and game needed an patch update desperately so I did. If you have any issues please list Chapter/Checkpoint so I can look at it. If interested in my optimizations/review check my blog post HERE

Instructions
Install version 1.0.1
Turn OFF nvidia laser sight
Options->Game settings->Reticule->Weapon only

INSTALL TO ..\Mirror's Edge\Binaries\
Depth of field OFF version: DOFOFFshaderoverride.zip
Depth of field ON version: DOFONshaderoverride.zip

If Game Crashes on Launch
Right click on MirrorsEdge.exe . Click compatiblity tab.
Check run this program for compatibility mode: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
If still crashes GO HERE

If You Experience Heavy Ghosting.
C:\Users\eqz\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config\tdengine.ini
Change depthoffield=True
to
Depthoffield=false

This will disable all Post Processing[including depth of field] which will effectively remove the bright coloring at the cost of visual aesthetic but should make it playable. I separated it from other post processing in my patch but you will have to do this if your display can not handle the bright contrast.

Lord of the Rings - War in the North

Lord of the Rings - War in the North

Fixed:
Blood
Hud pushed into depth
Issues Remaining:
Some setup screen issues
Minor hud issues

Hud Depth Adjuster
Press F2 for Hud depth 1
Press F3 for Hud depth 2
Press F4 for Hud depth 3

This isn't as perfect as I'd like it but would require separating hud elements. I'm not sure how many people will make use of it so its static hud changes instead. Its probably close to an excellent rating though if you are looking for a base line. Seems very enjoyable in 3D and issues don't get in way of gameplay. Ill probably write a blog entry when I get time to play it.

Recommended Settings
MAX.
Turn OFF damage numbers

Install to.. \Snowblind Studios\Lord of the Rings - War in the North\

Mass Effect

Mass Effect 1 - by mana84

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Last updated on May 19, 2013:
- added optional autohotkey scripts to switch crosshair on/off with rightclick

Description:

- Smoke, fog and ghosting effects are fixed
- Lighting and shadow issues are fixed
- Crosshair and enemies indicators can be switched on/off with 'F5'/'0' keys
  (by default you can use nvidia's sight but you can switch it off and enable crosshair by pressing F5)
- 2 depth/convergence settings based on which crosshairs presets is enabled
- Sniper scope fixed with a preset set on the 'F4' key. You can now aim effectively with sniper scope by selecting sniper with F4 (its default key), then you can return to default selecting another weapon by pressing F1, F2 or F3.

This is a rewritten and improved fix for the first Mass Effect.
I'm learning new things and I'm trying to improve my old fixes... if anyone founds other issues please make me know. Unfortunately I can't use last dll for this becouse it seems to stuck while loading.

How to install/play:
- Extract "MassEffect_fix.zip" archive in your "..\Mass Effect\Binaries\" directory of the game. If you have steam version it should be "..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Mass Effect\Binaries\".

F5/0 - keys switches between preset crosshair and enemies indicators on/off. it comes with related suggested depth/convergence settings. (but you can still edit them ingame and save with Ctrl+F7).

9 - key switches to a depth/convergence preset that is more confortable while watching cinematics

F1...F4 - keys are used to select weapons ingame by default, I've added presets to be able of use a special preset for snipers (default F4). You should return with default preset by pressing F1/F2/F3 after using the sniper.

Download:
MassEffect_fix.zip

Optional:
Right-click laser sight. Instructions are included. doesnt work anymore with new drivers.
Launch "RightMouseStatic.ank" OR "RightMouseNvidia.ank" to enable crosshair (static or nvidia's) while aiming with rightclick.
If you want to use nvidia script you have to change sight hotkey in nvidia control panel with "."

LA Noire

LA Noire
By Chiri / Eqzitara
Picture by Smarteck

Fixed: Chiri - unlocks convergence with custom settings; Eqzitara - hud

Adjust your convergence/depth to your liking for gameplay. While values for closeup scenes such as notepad will automatically be taken care.

Install to.. /LA Noire/
FILE HERE

Advanced Users Only[Tweaking. This not required]
If you want custom convergence by scene type. Open your nvapi ini.
[Following directions by Chiri]
Technical Information[This applies to L.A Noire]
1) No more dirty patching of a specific driver version DLL. The new nvapi.dll is a decorator(wrapper) to the original dll in the windows/system directory and should work with any driver version.

2) Not all convergence settings written by the game are ignored: The DLL reads a nvapi.ini file from the current directory which contains a convergence value mapping for conversion values which should be used to override the user set convergence value using hot keys.

Here is my nvapi.ini file for L.A. Noire:

[Logging]
Convergence=0
Separation=0

[ConvergenceMap]
Map1=from 3e99999a to 0.3
;Map2=from 3ffb4e53 to 2.0
Map2=from 3f800000 to 1.0
Map3=from 3f666666 to 0.9

The value 3ffb4e53 (= around 1.9) is the game setting for normal play settings. This is not mapped by the ini file (; = comment) and therefore overwritten with the user convergence file from hot-keys. The other entries map fixed game values like notebook view, title screen etc. which can be mapped to other values.

3) Logging of game value writes: If you set Convergence=1 in the ini file, all writes to convergence value from the game are logged into a text file. This allows you to find the values to set in [ConvergenceMap].

I am only 80% done with campaign. I am having difficulty beating one stage. There may be a final update. If you are curious about "optimizer". Its because the view was way too narrow top/bottom with the hud on 720P. Might be a way with ini's but I couldn't find it. Probably won't bother 1080P gamers.

Discussion/author post
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Author Notes(Chiri)

I decided to not add mouse specific processing but to add a generic DirectInput button handling: The version which allows a custom Convergence/Separation setting for any device using any possible button (gamepad, keyboard, mouse..).
All settings are optional and can be removed in the ini-file, eg: if Separation setting is not there, separation will not be overwritten.
here's an example using the right mouse button:

[OverrideSettings]
Input=Mouse
Action=Button 1
Convergence=2.0
Separation=10.0

The strings "Mouse" and "Button 1" come from DirectInput. If you use a gamepad or a second mouse, just add the Input logging:

[Logging]
Input=1

This will write out all DirectInput devices if no override settings are present. After adding the device as "Input=your device", all possible buttons for this device are logged.
If you can read some C, the attached source code might clear things up if you're confused about my explanations.

UPDATE

Because a lot of people use XBOX360 controllers, I've added XInput support (special API from Microsoft for XBOX accessories). See the ini-file below for an example which I've just successfully tested. In the source code is a list with all possible options.

Included example nvapi.ini:

; Example of logging options
[Logging]
;Input=1
;Convergence=1
;Separation=1

; Example of mouse configuration
;[OverrideSettings]
;Input=Mouse
;Action=Button 1
;Convergence=5.0
;Separation=10

; Example of XBOX360 joypad configuration
[OverrideSettings]
XInputDevice=0
Action=LeftTrigger
Convergence=5.0
Separation=10

; Example of generic joystick/joypad configuration
;[OverrideSettings]
;Input=WingMan Cordless Gamepad
;DeviceNr=0
;Action=Button9
;Convergence=5.0
;Separation=10
Editor note[Eqzitara]:Metro Last Light recommended settings: open Nvapi.ini and changing to these lines.
Convergence=0.01
;Separation=10.0

FILE HERE[CONTROLLER]
FILE HERE[MOUSE]
FILE HERE[KEYBOARD] DEFAULT KEY IS O

If any of these do not work open nvapi.ini and change the names to match your language spoken [Should be your OS's language]

If your mouse is not working...
-Download Keyboard version HERE
-Install to game folder. Test to make sure O key works in game.

Psychonauts

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Description:

Psychonauts is a terrific game, and plays extremely well in 3D.  The game always played well using depth only.

eqzitara created an earlier fix that I expanded upon.

This fix is for all of the problems when convergence was turned up.  Skies were the wrong size, and would be too close.  You can now use any convergence and depth that you want, including making it look toyified.

All skies, stars, moons, and suns are fixed, in every level.
No known glitches.  If you see anything please let me know in the comments.

How to install:

1) Use the Aion profile, like before.  The current NVidia Psychonauts profile (for 314.22) is completely unplayable.

2) Extract this Psychonauts.zip into your game directory.

Steam version was used, as:

 x86: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\psychonauts
 x64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\psychonauts

3) If you have crashes at cut scenes, change the Properties of the exe to compatibility mode for Win95. Yes, Win95.  That is the suggested fix from double-fine, and worked for me.

Screenshot Gallery

I also left in the debugging presets, on the off chance someone might be interested.  You can disable the fixes by using the numeric keypad Period key.  Re-enable the fixes with numeric keypad Enter key.  This allows you to toggle back and forth and see the fixes live. Lastly, there is a texture finding tool, of numeric keypad Zero key.  This highlights any texture that is seen by a modified shader, but not on the fix list. It's trippy.

Update: 5/12/13: managed to upload a broken Zip file, missing Shaderfolder.  Fixed.

Special thanks to eqzitara for excellent suggestions.

FarCry3: Blood Dragon (DX9 only) - 3D Vision fix

FarCry3: Blood Dragon (DX9 only) - 3D Vision fix.

Fixed:
- Light;
- Shadows;
- water effects;
- some on screen effects;
- HUD, Target markers and cross hairs in 3D;

Remaining issues:
- Some markers have wrong depth on UI (messages) because they share same texture as target markets.
- some lights effects cut off on far distance (like in FC3).
- after dead radar can be at wrong depth (incorrect texture determination). Fixed by last update.

Instructions:
Works only with DX9 render !
Download this archive. Unpack downloaded archive in to the "BIN" game folder (example : ":\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon\bin").

If you want to use the fix with any third-party game overlays or other DX9 hook software download this version and unpack(overwrite everything if you used previous version of the fix) it  in to the "BIN" folder where "fc3_blooddragon.exe" located (Important: remove d3d9.dll from the game folder if you installed previous version of the fix or fix from above). Launch  "HeliXmodLauncher.exe" and run the game after.

For non-steam version it's probably require to copy file in "Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon" instead of "Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon\Bin"

Y - key switches(cycle) HUD depth (3 variants).
U - key  switches (cycle) depth presets (2 variants).

Holding Mouse 2 key activate low separation preset (for good aiming from the gun)

If you want to save your custom convergence settings press "U" and select required preset, set custom separation/depth settings , then press F7 and your settings will be saved in the config file. You can set custom settings for both presets and for gun preset as well (when holding mouse button 2(aiming gun), set custom separation/depth  settings and press F7. Release mouse button 2).

Tested only with steam version of the game. Last beta driver. Highest settings.

Oblivion - 3D Vision Fix

3D Vision Fix by mike_ar69

What's Fixed
1. Shadows.  Dynamic shadows from people and creatures (but see below).
2. Water.  Reflections in particular.
3. Stuff overhead.  Sky, Clouds, Stars, Moon(s).
4. HUD.  Presets to compensate for some HUD anomalies, and one to cycle sep/conv settings.

Updates
3-June-2013 Added extra shader fixes for clouds, sun and moon for the case when HDR is off.
5-June-2013 Created new alternative fix for water and shadows (fixed shaders rather than setting render target properties).  This was to circumvent a reported issue with HDR lighting.

Presets
Keys 1-9 control the Quick Wheel.  Press and hold for 0.5s and separation is set near zero to compensate for the incorrect rendering.  To change the setting, press and hold one of the keys, while still pressed change depth and convergence to what you want, press F7, let go of the number key.

Key 0 - This has two presets for Depth and Convergence.  To change them, press 0 to toggle to the preset you want to change.  Change depth and convergence, press F7 to save it.  Press 0 again to select the other preset, repeat process.

Description
An oldie, but with the right mods still looks fantastic.  There have been a few mods for 3D Vision in the past (one by yosj in particular), but the water fixes in particular were mostly just ‘cover ups’ for the fact that reflections didn’t work, and made the water look far less nice that it's 2D equivalent.  This new fix makes the water Skyrim-quality.

Special thanks to Helix for his DLL tools and making these kinds of fixes possible.

Screenshots
Before and After:

Before and After:

Before and After:

Video

A video is available here: Oblivion Video.

Notes
  • There are two versions provided:
    • The first fixes problems with water and shadows by setting properties for render targets in the DX9Settings.ini file.
    • The second fixes the water and shadows the 'old fashioned way' by fixing vertex and pixel shaders directly.  This was cretaed to remve a reported issue with HDR lighting rendering incorrectly with the original fix.
  • Both versions render the same, and if you do not have issues with HDR, the original version is recommended.
  • Dynamic shadows are still not quite right.  As the distance to the shadow increases, the shadow gets ‘clipped’.  I kind of know why, but have not been able to fix it.  Hoping someone else can help with that.  I will continue to look at it though.
  • I recommend you turn off self-shadows for the same reason as above.
  • I can’t find any shaders that render any of the HUD elements, so I can’t do anything with them.  If anyone wants to help with this, please do…
  • The game uses keys 1-8 for the quick wheel.  The Quick Wheel renders incorrectly so you can’t see what you are picking.  I have presets defined that bascially set the depth to near zero when holding the number keys down for about 500ms, then put it back to normal when you release the key.  This is not perfect, but I can’t find a way to do anything else with the HUD.
  • When doing the Lockpicking thing, this also renders incorrectly so you can hold down any of the number keys 1-8 while lockpicking and this will set depth near zero so you can see whats going on.
  • Cross-hair is still 2D.  All related to not being able to find any shaders for the HUD.  There might be a community mod to move the crosshair, like there is for Skyrim, I’m not sure.  I turn off the cross-hair and use the Nvidia laser sight with the 'Skyrim' reticles they created, and it works great - you still get all the context messages when you point at things.

Installation
1. Original Version: Extract this zip file to the same location as the games .exe file.
2. Updated Version if you have issues with HDR lighting: Extract this zip file to the same location as the games .exe file.

Deadlight

I ask first to bo3b, because he made a very clever fix for this game before. i know the amount of work and effort behind this fixes, so i ask first....thanks bo3b!

Also thanks to Helix for creating the lua script that works perfect with severals games.

I think this game was impossible to fix, because the amount of issues....but lucky us i was wrong.

Fixed:
- Shadows/Lights
- Effects (smoke, vapor, dust, others)
- Pop-out HUD, now more confortable for this game.

Instructions:
-Go to..
..\Documents\my games\UnrealEngine3\LOTDGame\Config\LOTDEngine.ini
Change
AllowNvidiaStereo3d=False
To
AllowNvidiaStereo3d=True
- Extract the .zip content where .exe is located
- Only if you have some troubles with pop-out HUD change to TRUE the value for NvidiaStereo in the engine ini of the game (at least for me is all working fine without any changes)

"P" key cycle convergence presets: Menu preset (default) and Gameplay preset (it's cycle). You can change that's values for others if you want.

Recommended:
- Enable AA with Nvidia Inspector (see HERE)

Note: If you have the no sound in cutscene bug (it's not realated to this fix), try replacing the binkw32.dll file included in ShaderOverride Folder (backup first)..Thanks smarteck!

If for any reason you found any issue, let me know saying the chapter and scene (example: 3-1).
